Electronic Field Notebooks Pty Ltd is the Australian company behind FieldmarkĀ®, an open-source platform for designing field notebooks in a browser and collecting data on phones and tablets, even offline. The company hosts Fieldmark, supports the people using it, and builds custom field applications on it.
Fieldmark grew out of FAIMS, a research infrastructure project started in 2012 by field researchers who needed data capture for the conditions they actually worked in: no network, challenging environments, and protocols that no generic form app could express.
Design a notebook in a browser, with the fields, choices, and conditional logic your protocol needs. Field workers collect data on phones and tablets with no network and sync when one returns. Every edit is kept as a revision that records who made it and when.
The platform is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and developed in public at github.com/FAIMS. For FAIR data, Fieldmark records metadata at notebook, record, and field level and exports in open formats. Your notebook designs and data are always yours, and sharing the designs you build is optional.
